Do We, or Should We Glow?
Quote from Tim on May 9, 2022, 5:07 amWritten in response to someone questioning what others may or may not see in their countenance.
For myself I ask what do others see in my countenance when I am be crushed or squeezed. Are they experiencing the fruit of sour, spoiled grapes or sweet well aged wine?
I am writing this as the individual was brought to mind as I listened to Pastor Pete, as he shared what God had given him for the believers at Coop, “Do Others See Christ in You?” May 8, 2022 Sermon.
I have seen people that seem to radiate an invisible and sweet glow. The eyes being the light of the soul, you can see purity in some peoples eyes and a darkness and anger in others. My personal belief is that this all definitely comes form the spiritual presence that we daily spend time with, the influences that we choose to dwell with.
The following is some information that the Lord laid on my heart to share for you or for anyone with similar question or desire to know what our Heavenly Father has made possible for us; what He has made available through Real Grace resulting from the Jesus’ obedient submission to the will of the Father; His sacrifice on the cross.
Here is some scriptural history including text from the Amplified Bible and definition from Strong’s Hebrew and Greek Dictionary of English words that are used in the King James Bible.
When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tables of the Testimony in his hand, he did not know that the skin of his face shone and sent forth beams by reason of his speaking with the Lord. When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they feared to come near him. But Moses called to them; and Aaron and all the leaders of the congregation returned to him, and [he] talked with them. Afterward all the Israelites came near, and he gave them in commandment all the Lord had said to him in Mount Sinai. And when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil on his face. But when Moses went in before the Lord to speak with Him, he took the veil off until he came out. And he came out and told the Israelites what he was commanded. The Israelites saw the face of Moses, how the skin of it shone; and Moses put the veil on his face again until he went in to speak with God.
Exodus 34:29-35“Shone” Strong’s Dictionary number H7160 definition:
A primitive root; to push or gore; used only as denominative from H7161, to shoot out horns; figuratively rays:The effect of being in the presence of the Heavenly Father on Moses body was an outward shooting out of rays, most likely similar to the rays of the sun and happened at least once more in the New Testament when a few of the disciples witnessed the “transfiguration” of Jesus.
AND SIX days after this, Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John his brother, and led them up on a high mountain by themselves. And His appearance underwent a change in their presence; and His face shone clear and bright like the sun, and His clothing became as white as light. And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, who kept talking with Him.
Matthew 17:1-3Possibly a second time with different results when Jesus spoke to Saul the killer of Christians, who was renamed Paul, the author of much of the New Testament. The radiance of Jesus caused Saul to fall from his horse and to have his physical eyes blinded.
There are two words that refer to very important things that happened to Jesus and taking those Greek words to other locations, things that the Heavenly Father expect to happen in the lives of His children.
The idea of “underwent a change” in the King James is the word “transfigured” or Strong’s number G3339 defined as: to transform (literally or figuratively ‘metamorphose’)
Noah Webster defines Metamorphosis as: Change of form or shape; transformation; particularly, a change in the form of being; as the metamorphosis of an insect from the aurelia or chrysalis state into a winged animal.
That “metamorphose” caused Jesus’ “face shine clear and bright like the sun”. That affected the disciples, even as the shine of Moses face affected the Children of Israel.
All of this is Historical fact about what happened to Jesus, but what does that have to do with believers today?
We can find out by doing a search for the same Greek word, G3339, in the entire New Testament. It is used in the following Scriptures.....
I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed G3339 (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]. For by the ‘grace’ (Strong’s definition of ‘grace’: G5485; graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude)) given to me I warn everyone among you not to estimate and think of himself more highly than he ought [not to have an exaggerated opinion of his own importance], but to rate his ability with sober judgment, each according to the degree of faith apportioned by God to him.
Romans 12:1-3Nor [do we act] like Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not gaze upon the finish of the vanishing [splendor which had been upon it]. In fact, their minds were grown hard and calloused [they had become dull and had lost the power of understanding]; for until this present day, when the Old Testament (the old covenant) is being read, that same veil still lies [on their hearts], not being lifted [to reveal] that in Christ it is made void and done away. Yes, down to this [very] day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies upon their minds and hearts. But whenever a person turns [in repentance] to the Lord, the veil is stripped off and taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom). [Isaiah 61:1-2] And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured G3339 into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:13-18For me the shine that is spoken of is an outward result of an inward change because the Spirit of Jesus is living within. We are to become the dwelling place of the Spirit of Christ, even as Christ was the dwelling place of the Father. John 17:20-23
If we, as a grape vine, are not bearing outward, edible grapes, then we are barren and will be cut off of the vine and burned. John 15:1-12
Days of Heaven on Earth by A.B. Simpson, Saturday May 7, 2022
It is a blessed moment when we are born again and a new heart is created in us after the image of God. It is a more blessed moment when, in this new heart, Christ Himself is born and Christmas time is reproduced in us as we, in some real sense, become incarnations of the living Christ. This is the deepest and holiest meaning of Christianity. It is expressed in Paul’s prayer for the Galatians. My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you. There will yet be a more glorious era when we, like Him, shall be transformed and transfigured into His glory, and in the resurrection shall be, in spirit, soul and body, even as He. Let us be, under the power of the inspiring thought, incarnations of Christ, not living our life, but the Christ life, and showing forth the excellencies, not of ourselves, but of Him who hath called us out of darkness into his marvelous light. As a result our lives shall be to all the reliving of the Christ life, as He would have lived it had He been here.
