Faithfulness of Habakkuk 2:4 __NT Foundation of Faith
Quote from Tim on November 26, 2020, 6:25 pmThe major confusion in the modern church is regarding "faith". Is faith something that I confess with my mouth, but is without fruit (actions to support my words) or is it some that I live in word and deed?
The NT writings of Paul as translated in King James English emphasize the thought from Habakkuk 2:4 "the just shall live by 'faith' ". The Hebrew word H530 is used 49 times in the Old Testament, but is only translated once as the English word "faith".
My short entry here is to encourage you to study and discover 'Truth' which the Holy Spirit has for you and to add a new Scriptural support, from the Old Testament, for understanding a 'faith' that is active.
Psalm 89 talks much about H530, it is used 7 times, if you have a source of reading the King James Version with the Strong's Numbers. It will help you understand what we should understand about 'faith' in the NT.
Psalms 89:20-24
20 I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:
21 With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him.
22 The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him.
23 And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him.
24 But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted. Was David secure in the anointing that he had from the Lord?
I do not think so.... Psalms 51:11 "Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me."
I hope that you all have had a Wonderful Thanksgiving!!!
